HoloBIM Structural

Main Features & New Capabilities

HoloBIM Structural is a complete BIM structural engineering application for the analysis and design of building projects with reinforced-concrete structural frames. The structural engineer can describe the frame graphically or by specifying coordinates, while simultaneously obtaining a 2D drawing and a 3D model.

More than 100,000 buildings in Greece have been designed using HoloBIM technology. The software fully supports Eurocodes EC2 and EC8 as well as EKOS/EAK 2000. The technical documentation is by Civil Engineer Apostolos Konstantinidis, and the static and dynamic analysis procedures have been certified by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).

HoloBIM's structural FE model can be exported to ETABS — or a similar application — for analysis and design.

HoloBIM KANEPE

Assessment and strengthening of existing reinforced-concrete buildings

KANEPE (Greek Code for Structural Interventions) defines the criteria for assessing the load-bearing capacity of existing reinforced-concrete structures or structural members, with or without damage, as well as the rules for seismic redesign and the required interventions, repairs or strengthening measures.

Structural capacity assessment Assessment of the existing structure and its structural members.
Seismic redesign Evaluation of the existing structural behaviour and design of the required intervention.

Detailed Features

HoloBIM 2D and 3D visual input
01

2D & 3D Visual Input

The structural engineer can introduce the concrete building framework by graphically describing its real form or by specifying its coordinates. The output is simultaneously created in 2D and 3D drawings. In this way, possible mistakes during the description are easily detected and corrected.

HoloBIM artificial intelligence for concrete slabs
02

Artificial Intelligence

HoloBIM traces the geometry and continuity of concrete slabs, calculates and recommends the required thickness for each concrete slab.

HoloBIM dimensions and sections
03

Dimensions and Sections

All necessary cross sections can be generated upon request and all types of dimensions can be described through simple commands. The engineer may add critical information to the cross-section drawings, including elevations and dimensions, in order to improve drawing quality.

HoloBIM foundation pre-estimation
04

Foundation Pre-estimation

HoloBIM automatically calculates ground tension and generates the foundation. It supports central or eccentric footings, foundation beams and raft foundations, as well as combined foundations on multiple levels.

HoloBIM structural frame inspection
05

Structural Frame Inspection

The engineer can inspect the ground stresses while defining the foundations and decide about the appropriate foundation corrections.

HoloBIM 3D moment diagrams
06

3D Graphs

The envelopes of moments are generated automatically throughout the structural framework or a selected subset, with values every 0.20 m, every 0.10 m or at critical points, according to the engineer's requirements.

HoloBIM reinforcement management
07

Reinforcements

The engineer is able to edit the reinforcement drawings with simple drag-and-drop commands in order to improve the overall presentation of drawings.

HoloBIM 3D reinforcement inspection
08

Reinforcements Inspection

All steel reinforcement inside the structural elements can be inspected precisely in 3D. These images can also be provided to site technicians to help ensure proper reinforcement placement.

HoloBIM reinforcement list
09

Reinforcement List

As HoloBIM maintains all reinforcement information, it can calculate exact detailing, including pins and drums used for bending steel bars and the detailed steel-bar geometry, for automatic reinforcement fabrication.

HoloBIM column details
10

Column Details

Column reinforcement detailing is produced automatically and can be edited very easily.

HoloBIM visual problem detection
11

Visual Problem Detection

The structural frame can be inspected visually for possible problems. Elements with strength problems are highlighted with a different colour so they can be detected immediately, while detailed results remain available for each structural element.

HoloBIM quantity survey
12

Quantity Survey

All material quantities and labour quantities are calculated analytically per floor and per category of structural element.

HoloBIM cost estimation
13

Cost Estimation

Based on the analytical quantity take-offs and the unit costs of each material and activity, the engineer can calculate the construction cost in detail.

HoloBIM drawing management
14

Drawings

The engineer can easily arrange drawings on the sheet. In addition to 2D framework drawings and sections, 3D project views, external CAD drawings and photographs can also be included.

HoloBIM slab finite elements pi-FES
15

Slab Finite Elements

Module “pi-FES” simulates slabs of arbitrary geometry using triangular finite elements and provides useful moment and shear diagrams ready for structural design.

HoloBIM composite structures
16

Composite Structures

HoloBIM supports composite structural frames by combining steel sections and reinforced-concrete elements in the same model, allowing the properties of both materials to be used effectively.

HoloBIM Export to IFC for BIM interoperability
17

Export to IFC NEW

Export the structural model to IFC with the building geometry information, enabling open-BIM collaboration and reliable model exchange between different software platforms.
